Everyone matters to God: big and small, so we want to make sure church is safe for all. This means we take seriously our responsibility to screen and train leaders, to put in place appropriate procedures, and to establish a culture of care. We all have a part to play.
Everyone who serves at Foundry church contributes to our safety. We have basic training for all church members, through to specific training for kids & youth leaders, team leaders, governance and staff.
For those who have a formal ministry role which has direct contact with minors (e.g. you’ll be a kids or youth leader), please complete steps 1 to 4. If your role doesn’t have direct contact with children, you only need to complete steps 3 and 4.
1. Apply for a WWCC
By law, anyone working with children is required to have a Working with Children Check number. It’s easy to get one online.
Once you receive your application number (starting with APP) take it to Service NSW to verify your identity in person. You will then be emailed your WWCC Number (starting with WWC).
There’s training for every member of church, targeted to your specific type of ministry. It takes less than an hour, and if you have any questions just ask your team leader or one of the safe ministry contacts below.
All of us who work with children (e.g. kids church leaders) are mandatory reporters. This guide is a resource from the NSW Government to help you assess and step through the appropriate process.
